It's music for Young Moderns. This week's FYM Spotify Playlist is dedicated to Outside Lands 2012. Held on the generously green grounds of San Francisco's Golden Gate Park, August 10-12, this festival is an annual hub of premiere art, music, food, comedy and culture. FYM PRESS PLAY: JACK WHITE • NEW SINGLE • LOVE INTERRUPTION • NOW AVAILABLE ON 7"

Purveyor of contemporary nods to sonic nostalgia -Jack White is going solo in 2012 with a new album called Blunderbuss to be released on Third Man Records, April 24th. This past Tuesday, White released a self-directed music video for his bittersweet ode to the greatest four letter word to ever exist titled- Love Interruption. Watch the video below: 



The always the color-coordinated White seems to be going through a blue period right now, with classic 50's visuals and bee-hive beauties accompanying him on vocals/instruments. The track itself is an addictive blood-boiler, building steam into a bona fide breakup anthem. White's backing team- vocalist Ruby Amanfu, clarinet/bass clarinet player Emily Bowland and Brooke Waggoner on the wurlitzer make incredible contributions to setting the tone on this intoxicating new single.

Love Interruption is now available on White's Nashville-based label Third Man Records for purchase via 7" single ($6), paired with a B-side not featured on the new record titled- Machine Gun Silhouette. Northwest Jack White fans will get the chance to see him perform live this Memorial Day Weekend during Sasquatch Music Festival. This new solo record will hopefully turn into a big touring season for White in 2012... it's good to have you back! Cheers, FYM.

FYM ON THE LIST: BLOCK PARTY, DAY THREE

The Dead Weather made the sun tremble, as they rambled through a seek and destroy mission of sonic dominance, closing the main stage Sunday night at Capitol Hill Block Party.

Block Party bystanders did just about anything (scaling telephone poles, buildings, phone booths) to get a glimpse of black magic front-woman Alison Mosshart, and her dark leather vocals.

"Die By the Drop" the first single off Sea of Cowards (released May 2010) played live sounds like a southern death trip/let's make a deal with the devil in Clarksdale Mississippi kind of song.

Mosshart and White's intense connection worked themselves into a  vocal frenzy, trading kinetic jabs during "Cut Like a Buffalo."

But the FYM highlight of the night was witnessing the "Will There Be Enough Water" duet between White and Mosshart. Seeing Jack White play guitar live is similar to seeing an unexplained stellar occurrence in the sky. You know you witnessed it, but it cannot be explained in words.
