FYM DESIGN: NEW KRIS ORLOWSKI T-SHIRTS

Big things are already happening for Kris Orlowski in 2014. The Seattle singer/songwriter just signed a deal with SONGS Music Publishing and has a new full-length record coming out in April. Watch his latest music video for the title track Believer below:

Last month Kris reached out to us about designing a couple t-shirts for him. We wanted to design something that had a classic yet modern feel.

The graphic above was our interpretation of a mountain ladscape/native design vibe. We decided to keep the typography width uniform, and blow out the kerning on Believer -making a big and bold statement on top/balanced with the album title small on the bottom.

For the next design, we wanted to create something that had an old patch feel. We liked the idea of including a reference to Seattle without screaming it... so the latitude and longitude were included on the graphic. We also really liked the idea of playing up the KO in his initials, creating a strong statement capping off the top of the triangle's interior.

Purchase tickets to Kris Orlowski's album release show in April at the Showbox Market HERE. Kris will also be playing a FREE set at the Nordstrom downtown Seattle location this Friday (Valentine's Day) at noon by the piano. To purchase our t-shirt designs click HERE.

FYM PRESS PLAY: COLORFEELS NEW ALBUM SYZYGY • NASHVILLE TENNESSEE USA

Our love affair with the Nashville Skyline continues this week at the FYM Seattle HQ -As we recently discovered another impressive up and coming posse of talent straight out of Music City called Colorfeels. Earlier this year, the group self-released their debut record titled Syzygy (Album Artwork Pictured Directly Below).

The band is yet another example of musicians successfully using the fund-raising platform of Kickstarter.com to achieve their creative financial needs. The album itself is an expansive 12-track exploration of harmonious roots-filled sonic wonderment. It's spaced-out Nashville rock for digital hippies, psych-fans, and folkies alike.

Syzygy tune for tune takes you on a journey through various levels of vibrant energy rolled seamlessly into one cohesive listening package (It's an album meant to be heard all the way through, and gets better with multiple late-nite listens). The sound is authentic, spacious, and appealing. The album also features a few Pedal Steel guest spots (on a couple songs) by Carl Broemel of My Morning Jacket. Listen to Colorfeels latest release Syzygy in its entirety below:

The Colorfeels crew also happen to be pretty impressive web-designers. For more information on the band, be sure to check out their very well designed website- http://www.colorfeels.com/. Our favorite aspect of the site is the mind-bending '360ยบ Colorfield' Photo environment -it's a user friendly interactive space that allows fans to explore the dizzying world of Colorfeels in the woods (with a few hidden easter eggs peppered about). If you live in the Nashville area be sure to check out Colorfeels live this Friday November 4th, 2011 -playing a benefit concert in the 1925 Hall at The Belcourt. Cheers, FYM.

FYM ON THE LIST: JIMMY EAT WORLD, BLEED AMERICAN_THE FILLMORE SAN FRANCISCO, USA

Jimmy Eat World released Bleed American July 18th, 2001, a masterpiece of an album which catapulted the band straight up the sonic ladder to mainstream rock radio success. Jimmy Eat World went through a lot, tirelessly pushing to produce the record on their on -working day jobs, scratching and surviving to make it happen. The hard work paid off as a bidding war ensued ironically with their former label Capitol Records and Dreamworks (who ultimately won in the end).

This past Monday September 26th, 2011 -FYM had the chance to hear this momentous time capsule of our youth in it's entirety live at The Fillmore in San Francisco USA. During the set lead singer Jim Adkins reflected -that the album having been out for 10 years now makes you have one of those old people moments. Jimmy Eat World the rest of the night didn't have much to say to the San Francisco sea of dedicated followers, instead they let their tour de force album Bleed American speak for itself.

Throughout the entire performance Jimmy Eat World had to compete with an audience passionately singing word for word back to them what they had produced over a decade ago. Perhaps giving the crowd meaningful flashbacks (at least it did for us) of their former selves at impromptu teenage dance parties, learning to drive in vacant parking lots (while Bleed American was on the car speakers), and playing this album on repeat via a cd player instead of an iPod.

The second that Sweetness vocals started, the entire room of the historic Fillmore echoed with their best Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh's. When Hear You Me began a disco ball lit up the room with luscious acoustic guitar tempting everyone to slow dance like it was their High School prom. It was a nostalgic night filled with fond memories, proving that Jimmy Eat World's Bleed American is timeless classic, that still sounds as fresh as it once did 10 years prior. Cheers, FYM.
