FYM LIVE: BLACK MOUNTAIN LIVE AT THE MURAL AMPHITHEATRE- SEATTLE WASHINGTON, USA

Last Friday- FYM had the pleasure of watching Black Mountain perform a FREE show at The Mural Amphitheatre (thanks to KEXP and Seattle Center). Our apologies to have missed the two solid Seattle bands that opened the evening (WhaleBones and My Goodness) -click each artists name to learn more about their music.

What made the event even more special was- KEXP's audioasis Host, Hannah Levin (wearing a timely- Free the West Memphis Three t-shirt) introduced Black Mountain noting the band had specifically flown down just to play Seattle that evening.

Stephen McBean and Amber Webber (both pictured above) continue to impress us with their dueling vocal chemistry on stage.

Vancouver B.C. buds Black Mountain rolled through an hour long set (bouncing back and forth jamming their most recent catalog) until the sun went down. They performed tunes mainly from- 2010's Wilderness Heart and 2008's In The Future- but did close with an epic version of Don't Run Our Hearts Around from 2005's self-titled, Black Mountain.

It was a special experience to see/hear such tremendous psychedelic sonic thunder in an intimate outdoor live setting- with Seattle's most infamous landmark (the SPACE Needle) looming directly in the background.

Our highest point of the night was when Black Mountain let loose on one of our favorite jams- Let Spirits Ride. No worries if you missed the concert on Friday though, listen to the entire show below:

Every week in August KEXP and Seattle Center are coming together to showcase incredible bands live at The Mural Amphitheatre for FREE. The last date in this series before Bumbershoot happens is this Friday 08.26.11 with Shane Tutmarc, Ravenna Woods, Pickwick, and Drew Grow & the Pastors’ Wives- with music starting at 6 PM. Thanks again to KEXP, Seattle Center, and Black Mountain for kicking off our weekend on a great note!
Cheers, FYM.
